Dog Attack On Officer (Elliot Lake, Ont.) On May 5th, 2005 at 2:54 p.m. police attended a residence on St-Laurent to investigate a Landlord and Tenant Dispute.

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On May 5th, 2005 at 2:54 p.m. police attended a residence on St-Laurent to investigate a Landlord and Tenant Dispute.

While officers were diffusing the situation one officer walked away from the residence to hand over property to one of the parties. At this time a dog attacked from behind the officer. A second officer fearing for imminent serious injury drew his service pistol and discharged a single round at the attacking dog. The dog stopped the attack and retreated to within the residence. The attacked officer received minor injuries.

At the time of the news release the dog was being treated for a gunshot wound at an animal clinic.

Investigation continuing.

Missing Wallet Sparks Investigation

(Elliot Lake, Ont) On May 4th, 2005 police received a call in regards to a missing wallet. Contained in the wallet were personal documentation and a credit card. When the complainant contacted the credit card company he was advised that the card had been used. Police began their investigation and it was learned that the wallet had been taken from the residence of the complainant.

Espanola OPP stopped a vehicle where the driver was the suspect of this incident. The accused was arrested and returned to Elliot Lake.

Charged with the following is Wesley Bruce MAYNES (47) of Elliot Lake.

Break and Enter
Forgery (X3)
Using Stolen Credit Card (X3)

MAYNES is scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake on June 7th, 2005.

Flower Pot Missing From Grave Site

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police are investigating the theft of a flowerpot. The victim reports that sometime between May 1st, and May 2nd, 2005 unknown person(s) attended the gravesite of a loved one at Woodlands Cemetery and stole a flowerpot. The pot is described at off white in colour, stands approximately 1 foot high and has a diameter of 10 to 12 inches. The design is described as old fashioned. Value of the pot is $60.00.
