Sault Ste Marie OPP are making some progress into the break and enters in the Ranger Lake area earlier this month.

Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment have recovered one of four stolen outboard motors from break and enter’s at Ranger Lake. Twenty year old Matthew CAUDLE of Sault Ste Marie faces three charges under the criminal code. The ongoing police investigation found Caudle in possession of a Honda outboard motor that was stolen from Ranger Lake Lodge in mid May of this year.

Mr. Caudle has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Break and Enter, and Breach of Probation. He will appear in Sault Ste Marie court in June

Meanwhile police were called to another break and enter in the Ranger Lake area yesterday. The owner of a camp arrived to find a shed broken into and his boat motor stolen from the shed.

OPP would like to hear from anyone that can help the owners of these stolen boat motors, and other stolen items, get their property back. With some of these motor costing anywhere from $3000.00 to $5000.00 it doesn’t take long for the value of these break and enters to add up.

DRIVING WITH BOOZE AND DOPE

Echo Bay, Ont.,

An Echo Bay man has been charged under the Liquor Licence Act and the
Controlled Drug and Substance Act after he was stopped in Echo Bay last night.

At about 9:30 p.m. last night officers stopped a vehicle on Echo Lake Road in Echo Bay. The officer could smell the odour of marihuana and could see a bag of marihuana in the driver’s shirt pocket. A further search of the vehicle located two open bottles of beer. The driver was given a roadside breath test and he failed the test. He was taken back the OPP detachment were Breathalyzer tests indicated the man was just under the legal limit

Fifty two year old Bev Addison of Echo Bay has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Driving a Motor Vehicle with Open Liquor. He will appear in Court in early July to answer to the drug charge.


STOLEN BOAT FROM THE GOULAIS RIVER

Goulais River, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating the report of a stolen boat from the shores of the Goulais River.

Sometime between this past Sunday and yesterday the flat bottom camouflaged boat was removed from the shore of the river. If this boat washes up on your beach or if someone in your neighbourhood suddenly arrived home with a boat matching this description, one call to the OPP could set this craft on a voyage back to it’s rightful owner.
