HEYDEN RESIDENT QUICK TO SCARE CAR THIEVES AWAY
Heyden, Ont.,

A quick thinking Heyden resident is credited with assisting in the recovery of a stolen car and the three thieves that stole the car.

Last night at about 8:30 the man saw a disabled car in his driveway. His suspicion was quickly aroused when the three male occupants of the car were seen in the area of his garage. When he confronted the trio and asked what they were doing near the garage all three fled the scene.

O.P.P. officers arrived and discovered that the car had been stolen from the London area on March 23rd. The O.P.P. K-9 unit was called. Two of the three thieves returned to the scene and gave themselves up to police.

The police dog located the third suspect, hiding in the bush, a short distance away.

All three are in police custody and will appear in bail court today. The three have been identified as 21-year-old Charles Liberty of Barrie, 20-year-old Jamie McPhee of Burlington and 19-year-old Nicholas Petrie of Stratford Ontario.

Two of the three are charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5000.00 and Breach of Probation. The third accused faces one charge of Possession of Stolen Property. The vehicle is a 1995 Chevy Cavalier.
