Parent Charged For Allowing Unlicenced Kids To Drive

Sault Ste Marie OPP have charged a Heyden mother after her 15 year old son was involved in a van and snow machine collision.

Yesterday at about 6:00 p.m. a snow machine and a van were involved in a collision near the intersection of Birchgrove Road and Hiltz Road in Heyden. The investigation indicates that the van and snow machine were approaching the intersection from opposite direction. A fifteen year old boy and his friend were operating the snow machine. Apparently a loose dog was distracting the snow machine driver and he drove into the path of the van.

The passenger on the snow machine suffered very minor injuries and there was minor damage to the van. The parent of the snow machine driver, thirty eight year old Tina ARCHIBALD, of Heyden has been charged with Owner-- Permitting an Unlicenced Driver to Operate a Snow Machine.

No one involved in this crash required medical treatment.
