Canada Day Weekend - Notorious for Its Traffic Death Toll

The traffic safety message this Canada Weekend is very simple and straight to the point – SPEED KILLS, SLOW DOWN! Over the last few weeks police have responded to a number of violent, multi-vehicle crashes that have left many people dead and many more injured. Aggressive driving behaviour, mostly speeding, is often the cause.

Statistics show that the Canada Day Weekend is notorious for its traffic death toll having more fatal collisions that any other holiday weekend.

TRADED TV RESULTS IN CHARGES

Heyden, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP have one man in custody after a large television was traded for a small debt.

Yesterday at about 1:00 p.m. OPP were called to Willa Drive in Heyden after a relative of the television owner noticed the 50 inch T.V. gone from the house. The investigation has revealed that the actual owner of the house, and television, is out of town for a while and allowed a third person to stay in the house to look after the place.

Apparently the accused owed a small amount of money to a nearby neighbour and so the accused gave the neighbour a 50-inch television for the small debt. The neighbour, thinking this was just too good of a deal, asked for a receipt and was given one.

When the transaction was discovered police attended and eventually arrested the accused. Thirty six year old Winston CAUSLEY has been charged with Theft Under $5000.00. He will appear in bail court this morning. The television is being returned to its proper home
