MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION SENDS THREE TO HOSPITAL

(Thessalon, Ontario) Shortly after 10:00 am on Thursday July 7, 2005, the East Algoma – Thessalon Detachment were contacted regarding a motor vehicle collision at the Junction of Highway 17 and 129 in Thessalon, Ontario.

The collision occurred when a southbound Honda Accord stopped at the stop sign on Highway 129 and then proceeded to cross Highway 17 into the Town of Thessalon. The Honda Accord crossed Highway 17 in the path of an eastbound Toyota Celica. The Toyota Celica swerved to avoid the accident but the Honda Accord ran into the driver side of the Toyota Celica causing the Toyota Celica to roll. Both vehicles received extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the Honda Accord, Joan ARCHIBALD (69) of Thessalon, Ontario was transported to the Thessalon Hospital via ambulance. ARCHIBALD received minor cuts and bruises and remains in hospital for observation.

The driver of the Toyota Celica, Margaret RODDA (56) and passenger Jack RODDA (64) of Bruce Mines, Ontario were transported to Thessalon Hospital via ambulance. Both received minor cuts and bruises and were released from hospital.

All occupants of both motor vehicles were wearing their seatbelts.

This accident remains under investigation.
