BOATING FATALITY Haviland Bay A resident of Haviland Bay was operating a small fishing boat about 500 yards offshore yesterday. A short time later, the boat was spotted but the operator was missing so neighbours notified police. The Sault O.P.P.

A resident of Haviland Bay was operating a small fishing boat about 500 yards offshore yesterday. A short time later, the boat was spotted but the operator was missing so neighbours notified police.

The Sault O.P.P., the Goulais Fire and Rescue Unit and about 12 volunteers with equipment from the Sault Search and Rescue responded. In addition, numerous friends and neighbours with boats and other small watercraft assisted in the search.

At 12:45 p.m., the body of Mr. Orlando Guzzo, age 43, of 1214 Haviland Shore Drive was recovered from the bay. He was alone in the boat at the time of the accident. The investigation is continuing.
