MASSEY ACCIDENT DETAILS Yesterday at approximately 3:47 PM, the Ontario Provincial Police were notified of a single vehicle collision west of Massey, Ontario. Officers arrived on scene with the Sables-Spanish Fire Department and ambulance.

Yesterday at approximately 3:47 PM, the Ontario Provincial Police were notified of a single vehicle collision west of Massey, Ontario. Officers arrived on scene with the Sables-Spanish Fire Department and ambulance.

The investigation revealed that a husband and wife were driving a 2002 green Acura east bound on Highway 17, approximately eight kilometers west of Massey, when the driver lost control and went into the ditch.

Officers arrived on scene at 4:08 PM and found both occupants seriously injured. The Sables-Spanish Fire Department was required to extricate both people from the vehicle. The female driver was airlifted to the Sudbury Regional Hospital and the passenger was taken by land ambulance.

The circumstances of the collision are still under investigation.

Highway 17 was opened to one lane of traffic by 5:30 PM and fully open to traffic by 6:30 PM.
