Fire Investigation in Elliot Lake

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On July 19th, 2005 at 12:07 a.m. the Elliot Lake Fire Department and the OPP received a fire call to attend 11 Holt Place in Elliot Lake. On scene a raised duplex was noted to be on fire and fire fighters battled the blaze until 6:22 a.m. The house sustained major structural damage and the contents were totally destroyed.

Further investigation resulted in the discovery of two bodies. They have been identified as Douglas Jacobs (79) and Helen Louise Jacobs (73) both of Elliot Lake.

Investigation continuing.

Sexual Assault Charge Laid

(Bruce Mines, Ontario) On June 22, 2005 the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP were advised of a sexual assault allegation that occurred in the early morning hours of June 22, 2005.

An investigation was initiated and as a result, Stewart Donald LITTLE (55) of Bruce Mines has been charged with “Sexual Assault” section 271 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

LITTLE was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear. LITTLE is scheduled to appear in Thessalon Court on August 11, 2005.

There will be no further information released to protect the identity of the victim.

ATV Theft

(Blind River, Ontario) - On Wednesday July 20, 2005 the East Algoma – Blind River Detachment were contacted regarding the theft of an ATV from a residence on Colonization Road, Blind River, Ontario.

The theft occurred between Sunday July 17 – Wednesday July 20, 2005.

A 1987 Red Suzuki four-wheeler was taken from outside the residence.
