(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP in Elliot Lake are seeking the assistance of the public regarding a fail to remain accident.

Police are investigating an accident that took place on Sunday, December 31st, 2006 shortly after the noon hour in front of the former Bible Chapel on Mississauga Avenue Investigation reveals that an eastbound pick-up truck appear to loose control and struck another vehicle. The suspect vehicle then went across a front lawn and left the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not injured but the vehicle received damage to the rear left corner.

Police are looking for witnesses that may have been in the area at the time of the accident.

POLICE CHARGE THREE

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP have arrested and charged three (3) individuals with several offences after received a complaint of a possible robbery.

On December 31st, 2006 at approximately 11:00 p.m. two victims attended the detachment in Elliot Lake to report an alleged robbery and assault.

Investigation revealed that the victims had attended a residence on Elizabeth Walk in Elliot Lake and while at this residence both parties were assaulted and forced to hand over money.

Charged are:
Joshua William Walter WILSON (22) of Elliot Lake with the following:
Robbery with a weapon
Intimidation – use of violence
Assault X2
Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
Obstruct/Resist Police X2
Breach of Probation X2

Walter LINDQUIST (29) of Elliot Lake with the following:
Robbery with a weapon
Breach of Probation

Also charged is a 15-year-old female with the following:
Assault Police
Obstruct/Resist Police
Breach of Probation.
The name of the youth will not be released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

All parties are scheduled to appear in court on March 6th, 2007.


CHARGES IN SEARCHMONT CRASH

Searchmont, Ont., A Sault Ste Marie man has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act after a crash on Hwy 556 yesterday.

At about 9:00 a.m. yesterday morning a car was traveling north on Hwy 556 near Searchmont. The driver was entering a curve and cut the corner to make the curve. He lost control of the car and went into the ditch. No one was injured in the crash but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

Sixty eight (68) year old Kenneth HATHERLEY, of MacMurray Ave in Sault Ste Marie has been charged with Drive Left of Centre on a Curve contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Batchewana First Nation, Ont., The Batchewana First Nation Police were called to the Rankin Arena last night after two fans got unruly at a hockey game last night.

Last night at about 10:00 p.m., at the request of the referee, members of the Batchewana First Nation Police attended the arena for a disturbance in the stands. It appears that two men had a verbal disagreement and it was affecting the hockey game. Both men were told to leave the arena and they complied with the request of the police. No charges were laid and no further problems were reported.
