NEW YEAR NOT HAPPY FOR SOME DRIVERS
Sault Ste Marie, Ont..,

Sault Ste Marie OPP found at least three people that celebrated the new year with vigor and determination.

Yesterday morning at 6:00 a.m. OPP were called to a home on the Rankin First Nation after a woman report a car in the ditch in front of her home on Gran Street. Officers determined that the man was drinking and as a result of a road side breath test he was issued a 12-hour drivers licence suspension.

At 7:30 a.m. officers from the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit checked a vehicle on Hwy 556 in Heyden. Officers found an 18-year-old male with open beer in the car. His beer was seized and he received a provincial offence notice for having alcohol under age.

Later in day, at about 6:30 p.m., patrol officers stopped a vehicle on Church Street in Echo Bay. This driver was also given a road side breath test and as a result of the test his drivers licence was seized for 12 hours.

Happy 2003 to everyone from all of us at the Sault Ste Marie OPP Detachment !!
