ARMED ROBBERY AT BATCHAWANA FIRST NATION GAS BAR

Batchawana First Nation, Ont, Members of the Batchawana First Nation Police, and Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating an armed robbery at Sewell’s Gas Bay on the Batchawana First Nation Territory.

Last night at about 8:30 p.m. two males enter the gas bar armed with knifes and robbed the gas station. The two suspects left the area on foot. No were no reports of injuries to any staff at the gas bar. It is not know exactly what the robbers escaped with.

If anyone saw any unusual activity anywhere near the gas bar last night they are encouraged to call the Batchawana First Nation Police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

HEYDEN MAN APPEARS IN BAIL COURT FOR ASSAULT

Heyden, Ont., A thirty five year old Heyden man will appear in bail court this morning after assaulting his spouse and resisting arrest.

Yesterday at about 11:00 a.m. OPP were called to a parking lot in Heyden after reports of a man assaulting a woman. Investigation has indicated that the woman was attempting to leave the home with the assistance of another person. The man became aware of the woman’s intention and became violent. The woman was assaulted by the man while she sat in the vehicle. Police were called and they located the suspect walking nearby. When police went to arrest the man he resisted their efforts and a scuffle ensued.

A thirty five year old Heyden resident will appear in bail court this morning charged with assault and resist arrest. No one was seriously injured in this incident.
