LEAVE WHEN YOU ARE TOLD TO LEAVE
Batchewana First Nation, Ont.,

The Batchewana First Nation Police charged a 15-year-old female under the Trespass to Property Act.

The girl was at a Rankin business when the owner of the business told her that she was not welcome and to leave the property. She did not immediately leave and the police were called. The Batchawana Police charged the young offender with Failing to Leave Premises when Directed.

The Trespass to Property Act provides the authority for property owners and their agents to decide who is allowed on their property and certain restrictions that are or are not allowed while you are on that piece of real estate.

In some circumstances the owner or the agent is allowed to arrest someone who they find in violation of any signed activities or who fail to leave when directed.

Leave when you are first told to leave and there will be no court appearances there will no further problems with anyone.
