Domestic Disputes

Members of the Sault Ste Marie Detachment responded to two domestics within our detachment area last night.

Early this morning officers were called to separate homes in communities east of Sault Ste Marie after the male occupants of the homes called police. In both circumstances the callers felt that verbal confrontations were escalating toward violence.

Police attended the homes and in both circumstances it was mutually agreed with all parties that one person would find alternate accommodations for the evening until cooler heads prevailed. There was no evidence or complaints of any assaults in these circumstances.

Traffic Stop Finds Suspended Driver

A Sudbury man will be making a return trip to our “naturally gifted” city after a being stopped by an OPP officer for speeding yesterday.

The officer was conducting traffic patrol on Hwy 17 in Laird Twp when he pulled the man over for speeding.

A record check revealed that the driver has two licence suspensions and isn’t allowed to drive in Ontario until he clears up his legal problems. Twenty four year old Ozzie Osamamick of Sudbury will be returning to Sault Ste Marie in about a month to try to explain his actions to one of our local justices.

If he is convicted on Driving Under Suspension, he will have to serve out yet another drivers licence suspension and pay more fines.
