Vehicle-Pedestrian Fail to Remain Collision

Blind River, Ont.

At approximately 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday 12 December 2006 a student was stuck by a motorist at the Causley and Huron St. intersection in Blind River.

Two elementary school students who were at the intersection were motioned by the driver of a grey Jeep type vehicle to cross the street. It appears, through the evidence of the students, that the driver may have inadvertently stepped on the gas while attempting to apply the brake. One student was struck and knocked to the ground sustaining only minor scrapes.

The driver is described as an older female with white hair.

It is the obligation of every driver to stop and offer assistance to other persons involved in a collision before driving off.

Police are asking the driver to come forward to close this incident and asking the assistance of the public in identifying the driver of the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310 –1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 222-TIPS (8477).
