Search For Missing Man Re-Activated

Duncan Twp, Ont.,

OPP in Sault Ste Marie have re-activated the search for thirty one year old Stacey Delenardi who went missing last winter.

On 29 November 2005 Mr. Dilenardi was reported missing to the Sault Ste Marie City Police. On 30 November 2005 Mr. Dilenardi’s car was found abandoned off of Connor Road in Duncan Twp just outside the northeast corner of the Sault Ste Marie city limits.

An extensive search was conducted last November until heavy snowfall prevented any further search efforts. Earlier this month, when the snow was still in the area, an OPP helicopter flew over the search area looking for any indicators of his whereabouts.
OPP officers with the Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team then searched isolated areas selected by the helicopter but did not find any signs of Mr. Dilenardi.

Today four OPP Canine Unit officers will search the area with cadaver dogs. The OPP Emergency Response Team, assisted by Sault Search and Rescue, will then conduct a ground search of the area if the canine teams are unsuccessful.

If anyone traveling in that area last November remembers seeing any activity that may be related to this search is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Break & Enter

Batchewana First Nation, Ont.,

Yesterday morning, at about 10:00 a.m, the Batchewana First Nation Police were called to a business in the 400 block area of Frontenac Street for a break and enter.

Some time during the darkened hours of Wednesday night and Thursday morning thieves forced their way into a native craft store and stole merchandise, crafts and religious objects.

The owner spent most of yesterday doing inventory to determine exactly what is missing. A preliminary list indicated that one of the more obvious items that were stolen is a ceremonial drum used for in traditional native ceremonies. The culprits also stole native clothing, souvenirs and crafts. To add insult to injury, they also ransacked the interior of the business before disappearing into the night.

Anyone that may have seen anything suspicious over the past two days or who knows anything about this crime is encouraged to contact the Batchewana First Nation Police at 1-888-310-112. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 942-7867 or 1-800-222-TIPS(8477)
