Grass Fire At C.A.S.S. (Desbarats, Ontario) On Thursday April 21, 2005 at approximately 1:20 pm the East Algoma OPP along with the Johnson and Tarbutt Fire Departments were advised of a grass fire at Central Algoma Secondary School.

(Desbarats, Ontario) On Thursday April 21, 2005 at approximately 1:20 pm the East Algoma OPP along with the Johnson and Tarbutt Fire Departments were advised of a grass fire at Central Algoma Secondary School.

As of 2:30 pm approximately 5 acres of grass had burned. The fire is currently still burning but is under control.

No charges have been laid.

The investigation is continuing.

Cyclist Bitten By Dog

Laird Twp, A cyclist riding to her home was bitten by one of two dogs as she rode past a house on Calabogie Road last night.

At about 8:30 p.m. last night the woman was riding her bike on Calabogie Road in Laird Twp east of Echo Bay. Two loose dogs came running after her from a home on Calabogie Road. One of the two dogs bit the cyclist on the leg. The victim attended hospital for treatment of the bite.

Officers attended the home and spoke with the owner. The dog that bit the cyclist will be quarantined for 10 days. The dog had its shots in the past. The Algoma Health Unit will continue this investigation.
