Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. was called to the 800 block of Hwy 17 in Heyden after a man was found laying in a small bush area with serious head injuries.

At about 11:30 a.m. OPP and ambulance personnel were called to the area after a neighbour found the man. He was found laying in a small bush area that separated two houses on Hwy 17 in Heyden. The victim was taken to Sault and Area Hospital by ambulance in serious condition.

Police believe that the victim may have been lying outside for an extended period of time. He is also being treated for hypothermia. Members of the Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. Crime Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit have been called in to assist in this investigation. His condition is being treated as suspicious and an ongoing criminal investigation has begun.

Police are not releasing the name of the 35-year-old victim pending notification of next of kin.
