HEYDEN HOMES VANDALIZED

Heyden, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to River Road and Dixie Road in Shetland trailer park on Saturday morning after a number of homes reported that they had been vandalized overnight.

It appears that the vandals removed solar lights and other lawn decorations from several homes and threw them around the park. Some people report hearing dogs barking at about 3:00 a.m. on Saturday morning but no one bothered to look outside to see what the problem was.

ANOTHER MOOSE TAKES OUT A TRACTOR TRAILER

Mamainse Harbour, Ont., Once again a moose and a tractor trailer has been involved in a collision on Hwy 17 north of Sault Ste Marie.

WHAT PART OF “DON’T DRIVE” DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND ??

Heyden, Ont., A Heyden man will spend the weekend in jail awaiting an appearance in bail court on Monday morning after being caught driving when there were several court orders telling him not to drive.

On Friday night at about 8:30 p.m. officers with the Sault Ste Marie detachment were running radar on Hwy 17 in Heyden. They clocked a southbound vehicle at about 30 kms over the speed limit.

The vehicle was pulled over the driver was unable to produce a drivers licence. He couldn’t produce one because his privilege to drive in Ontario has been suspended for life.

Further investigation has indicated that the 49 year old man has five different suspensions for several reasons. Some of the most predominant reasons for the suspensions are for being previously caught while driving while disqualified after being convicted of impaired driving.

Forty nine year old William James NEIL of Heyden is in custody and has been charged, again, with driving while disqualified. He will appear in bail court on Monday morning in Sault Ste Marie. He was also given a $220.00 speeding ticket.

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS STOLEN “CAT”

Heyden, Ont., An Echo Bay man is missing his 2002 Artic Cat all terrain vehicle after leaving it on a bush trail for a week.

Sometime last week the man was riding his ATV on a trail in the Heyden area between Old Goulais Bay Road and Pioneer Trailer Park. The machine broke down and the owner left the machine on the trail all week until he got the parts to fix the bike.

When he returned to the ATV on Saturday afternoon the bike was gone. It appears that someone found the disabled ATV and has stolen the bike. If anyone has seen an extra Artic Cat ATV sitting in or on someone’s property, please call the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
