Officers with the Northwest RIDE unit are out in full force this holiday weekend and a zero tolerance policy has been adopted.

Of notable mention were two separate vehicles that appeared to be travelling together of Highway 17 east of Echo Bay. They were clocked on radar travelling 160km/h in a posted 90km/hr zone. Both vehicles were stopped and each male driver was issued a summons. A vehicle travelling at more than 49km/h over the posted limit will result in a summons being issued to the driver and an appearance before a Justice of the Peace,.

Another diver from Elliot lake will also appear in Provincial Offences Court after he was stopped and it was discovered his vehicle was not insured.

Motorists are advised to drive safely this holiday weekend. Police will have increased patrols on Highway 17 and all secondary highways.
