Garden River First Nation, Ont., Officers with the Sault Ste Marie detachment of the OPP responded to an alarm call early this morning only to find that the store had been illegally entered.

At 4:00 a.m. officers were called to a store on Hwy 17 in Garden River after the alarm was activated. Officers discovered the a door had been forced open and a unknown
quantity of cigarettes had been stolen.

The OPP asked for the assistance of the tracking dog from the Sault Ste Marie City Police. The City police tracking dog attended the scene but was unable to find the culprits.

The investigation is continuing this morning.

Impaired

Goulais River, Ont., Officers with the Sault OPP arrested another impaired driver early in the evening
last night.

OPP were called to Hwy 552 West near Island Road after a mini van when into the ditch. Officers arrived just in time to find a friend of the driver trying to get him away from the area before police arrived.

The driver, a forty six year old Sault Ste Marie man, was taken into custody at the scene. The driver was given free overnight accommodation in one of the concrete lined holding cells of the Sault Ste Marie OPP office. When he wakes up later this morning, he will be given the necessary paper work to indicate a charge of Impaired Driving and Fail to Provide a breath sample.

Goulais River, Ont, A Goulais River woman called police and the MNR yesterday morning after she saw a bear on her deck.

At about 7:00 a.m. yesterday morning the woman called police from the 1700 block of Havilland Shores Drive in Goulais River. She indicated that a bear had been in her yard and on her deck twice that morning.

In a second animal incident OPP were called to Hwy 17 just south of Trout Lake Road yesterday after a deer was struck by a car on Hwy 17. The deer was killed but no one in the vehicle was injured.
