The Sault detachment of the O.P.P. has had a quiet twenty-four hour period and has nothing to report.
MAJOR ACCIDENT NEAR ESPOANOLA
Yesterday at 8:00 p.m., an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a sports utility vehicle sent five persons to hospital.
The accident occurred on Highway 17 near Worthington Road not far from Espanola. Two off-duty O.P.P. officers came upon the accident and extinguished a fire.
The fire department was called to extricate the five occupants of the SUV. The five (3 adults and 2 children) were taken to St. Joseph?s Medical Centre with undetermined injuries.
The highway was closed for about three hours last night.
