One man remains in police custody this morning after a woman complained about being assaulted and threatened.

Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment arrested a forty two year old man last night and have charged him with three counts of assault and three counts of Uttering death threats. It is alleged that over the past few weeks the woman had been assaulted on different occasions and her life threatened.

The accused will make a video court appearance this morning.

(Kapuskasing, Ont)-The Kapuskasing OPP responded to a distraught male at a residence, at 3pm on 11 December 2004.

Upon police arrival at the residence the subject was brandishing a rifle. The man subsequently barricaded himself in his residence.

After some negotiations the male surrendered to police and was arrested for various weapons offences.

The male subject was taken to Sensenbrenner Hospital for psychiatric assessment.
