R.I.D.E check leads to numerous drug charges

WAWA - On Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at approximately 1:25 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East (White River) Detachment were conducting R.I.D.E checks on Highway 17 in the Township of White River, Ont.

Police had occasion to stop and investigate two occupants of a silver automobile. During the stop, police seized a quantity of methamphetamine pills, a quantity of cannabis resin, a quantity of cannabis buds and paraphernalia items.

As a result Thomas Spencer Gagnon, 30-year-old of Temiskaming Shores, Ont., was arrested and charged with the following offences:
    •    Adult possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis marijuana- under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
    •    Adult possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis resin over 1 gram contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
    •    Adult possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
    •    Adult possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Blake Tanner Rochon, 23 of Cochrane, Ont., was also arrested and charged with the following offences:
    •    Adult possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis marijuana - under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
    •    Adult possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis resin over 1 gram contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
    •    Adult possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
    •    Adult possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused were released from custody and are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Wawa, Ont. on June 11, 2018.
