Police lay forcible confinement, assault charges in Chapleau incident

A Chapleau resident is facing charges in what Ontario Provincial Police are calling a domestic dispute.

Officers were called to a disturbance on Martel Road in Chapleau just after 5 a.m. on December 23.

A 28-year-old was arrested and has been charged with:

  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm
  • Spousal Assault - two counts
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Domestic Mischief - three counts
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on January 8 in Chapleau. 

“Due to the domestic nature of the incident, the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim,” said OPP in a news release.
