Sept. 1 update

The Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had been seeking the assistance of the public in locating a male from Grand Prairie, Alberta. Rene Savoie, 41 years of age was last seen travelling on Highway 17 near Wawa, Ont. on Aug. 26, 2017. Savoie has since been in contact with police and is no longer considered missing.

WAWAThe Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently seeking the assistance of the public in locating a male from Grande Prairie, Alta.

Police and family are concerned about the well-being of Rene Savoie. He is 41 years of age and was last seen travelling on Highway 17 near Wawa, Ont. on Aug. 26, 2017.

Savoie is described as:

  • 5'10"
  • 135 lbs
  • Slim build
  • Brown and grey hair with a crew cut
  • Metis
  • Wearing green shorts and a grey t-shirt

He could possibly be driving a black, 2002, two door, passenger vehicle with a temporary Alberta licence plate and rear spoiler.

The OPP North East Region Criminal Investigation Unit has been assisting with the investigation.
