A 41-year-old Echo Bay resident is facing a fraud charge.

On Wednesday, the Ontario Provincial Police arrested Candace Loveless in connection with fraud investigations in Elliot Lake.

Members of the East Algoma OPP and Sault Ste. Marie Crime Unity executed an arrest warrant at a residence in Echo Bay.

Police say that a complainant reported that numerous cheques and a credit card were missing from a family member's residence in 2018.

"Over an extended period of time, these cheques and credit card were used fraudulently numerous times," an OPP release said. "After police concluded the lengthily investigations, the person of interest had already left town and an arrest warrant was issued."

Lovelace is facing charges of fraud over $5,000 contrary to section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) and use of credit card, contrary to section 342(1)(c) of the CC. A court date has been set in Elliot Lake in January.
