OPP locate cocaine during vehicle stop, woman charged

BLIND RIVER - On June 6, 2017, shortly after 4 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol on Woodward Avenue in the Town of Blind River.

As an OPP officer passed a parked motor vehicle he detected a strong odor of freshly burned marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The officer then approached the parked vehicle and spoke with a female who was exiting the vehicle.  

She was arrested and the vehicle searched. A small amount of cocaine, cannabis resin and drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Danielle Bissaillion, 28 years of age, from Blind River was charged with: 

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance - Other Drugs, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA; and
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance - Cannabis Resin-Under 1 gram, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 13, 2017/
