SENSELESS ACTS OF VANDALISM

Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. received a call on Sept. 07, 2003 reporting that a camp located on Getchell Road in Goulais River area had been damaged. A resident in the area was out in his canoe and at 3:00 he heard breaking glass, not once but over and over. Upon returning from his outing he found a neighbours camp had been broken into and everything inside had been broken and tossed about senselessly. Every window in the small camp had also been broken. Some of the windows were broken by tossing items from inside the camp through the glass. Police believe nothing was taken but the amount of damage done could add up to thousands. It appears that his was nothing more than an act of random destruction of another person’s property.
O.P.P. believes youths are responsible and after checking the shoreline it is believed the responsible people walked away from the scene. The owner of the camp lives in the US and a neighbour contacted him. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers or the Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P.
