THREE ARRESTED AFTER THEFT VICTIM ASSAULTED

Batchawana, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP have three Winnipeg people under arrest after the victim of a theft was assaulted at a Batchawana business.

At about 4:30 on Friday afternoon the victim was at a Batchawana business. He looked at his vehicle and saw a stranger rummaging through his car. He ran over to the car and shoved the thief away. The victim was then attacked by two others accomplices in the group. Police were called and bystanders at the business attempted to aid the victim and separate the culprits.

As the 53 year old victim was being attended to, a female member of the group of thieves returned and struck the victim in the head. He suffered a gash to the forehead. Police attended and arrested all three. Further investigation revealed that two of the three were wanted by the City of Winnipeg Police for Arson.

Twenty one year old Natasha Pynn of Winnipeg will appear in bail court today charged with one count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm. Twenty four year old Trevor Burns and 27 year old Andre Seifert of no fixed address were arrested for the Arson warrants and will appear in bail court to be remanded until Winnipeg Police arrive to pick them up.

The victim of the assault, a 53 year old Indiana resident was treated at the scene for his injuries

BATCHAWANA BREAK AND ENTERS
Batchawana, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating three break and enters in the Batchawana area over the weekend.

Sometime over the past week culprits entered a seasonal home and two sheds in an area just off of Hwy 563 in Batchawana. All three buildings had their doors forced open. The owner of one property has attended and so far is unable to determine if anything is missing.So far no arrests have been made in these break and enters

Sault Ste Marie OPP are asking for the public’s assistance after an unusual find in the Batchawana area.

OPP were called to the Tourist Information Center on Hwy 17 in Batchawana after an older dog and a newer backpack were left there all weekend.

Resident’s of the area noticed an older, tame lab mixed dog around the complex all weekend. Also located near the dog was a backpack with newer high end clothing in the pack. The dog was taken to the Humane Society by the OPP. If you know who owns the dog or the back pack please call Sault Ste Marie OPP through our Communication Center at 1-888-310-1122.

ECHO BAY BUSINESS BROKEN INTO
Echo Bay, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to an Echo Bay business after a window was smashed and the building entered.

On Saturday at about 4:00 a.m. the owner of the business answered his alarm to find the window on the front door smashed. Investigation has indicated that a small amount of cash was removed from the business.

RANKIN ARENA BREAK AND ENTER
Batchawana First Nation,

The Batchawana First Nation Police are investigating a break and enter into the canteen at the arena.’

Arena staff arrived for work at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning to find that the canteen had been broken into and merchandise from the snack bar had been stolen.


ROCK THROWN AT PICK UP TRUCK
Red Rock, Ont.,

OPP were called to Lakeshore Drive in Red Rock, just west of Prince Twp after a motorist had a rock thrown at their truck by a pedestrian

On Saturday at about 7:00 p.m. the motorist was traveling on Lakeshore Drive. There was a man and a woman walking two dogs and pushing a baby carriage. As the truck passed the two the male threw a rock at the truck.

The driver of the truck did not stop because they thought the male was drunk. Damage to the truck was close to $1000.00.

The man and woman who were walking disappeared prior to police arrival. Patrols of the area and inquiries at several neighbours were unable to identify the couple. If anyone may know who the rock thrower is please call Sault Ste Marie OPP.


STOLEN DIRT BIKE
Laird Twp,Ont.,

Police were called to Lapish Rd in Laird Twp after a dirt bike was stolen on Sunday afternoon.Sometime between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. thieves removed the yellow dirt bike from the house. The bike was not licensed for the road and the owner has some different features to the bike.
