ACCUSED REMAINS IN CUSTODY

Elliot Lake, Ont.

The East Algoma OPP have charged a local male with several charges after receiving a complaint of a possible Break and Enter at a residence. The call was received on September 8th, 2006 and investigation revealed that the accused allegedly committed the break and enter. During the investigation police also learned that the suspect had taken property and was on probation.

Charged with the following is David Wilfred CHRISTIANSEN (21) of Elliot Lake:

- Break and Enter
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000
- Breach of Probation X2

CHRISTIANSEN remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing that is scheduled for September 11, 2006.

Investigation competed.

More Break and Enters at Recreational Properties

A lower Island Lake camp was entered sometime between September 7th and 9th. Stolen from the camp was a Coleman generator, Gentro Stainless Steel Barbaque and a garden cart. The camp located in the 300 block of Lower Island Lake Rd was accessible by road and a vehicle would have been required to remove the stolen items.

Three additional camps were reported broken into on Achigan Lake. The camps located around Achigan lake were believed to be accessed by 4 wheel vehicle. The only other way to get to the camps is by boat. Alcohol and food items were stolen from the one camp and it was unknown if anything was taken from the second camp. A total of 4 camps have been broken into over a 2 week time frame during the last week of August.

Rural properties are often the target of thieves. Residents and property owners and help secure their own properties by being vigilant for people not commonly known to frequent the area of their properties. The police will willingly check out any suspicious activity.

Theft of Identification from Purse at Laird Raceway

While attending races at Laird Raceway on the 9th. between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. of September a Desbarts woman left her purse behind on the lower bleachers. When she noticed the purse was missing she began to search under the bleachers with the aide of a couple youths. The purse was found but missing from the purse were some prescriptions drugs and all of her identification. Stolen from the purse was a Drivers license, SIN Card, OHIP card, bank card and a couple of shopping points cards. Anyone attending the races whom may have witnessed this incident are asked to call the OPP.
