Causing A Disturbance Gets Male More Charges

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP attended a residence on Spruce Ave on October 30th, 2005 in regards to a male causing a disturbance. The call was received at 6:15 a.m. and upon police arrival the male had left the area. Police searched for the suspect and located the male hiding behind a fence. The suspect was placed under arrest for being intoxicated in a public place and refused to accompany police.

Charged with Causing a Disturbance, Obstruct and Resist Police and Being Intoxicated in a Public Place is Chad William LATENDRESSE (29) of Wallaceburg, Ontario.

LATENDRESSE is scheduled to appear in court on December 12th, 2005.


Police Investigating Mischief Report

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On Saturday, October 29th, 2005 at approximately 10:55 p.m. an employee of a local Pizza Restaurant was leaving to make a delivery when he drove by a group of youths. At this time an unidentified youth kicked the side door causing a small dent in the panel.

Concerned Citizens Call Police

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On October 28th, 2005 at approximately 10:35 a.m. police attended the area of Beaumier Crescent in regards to a possible impaired driver.

Investigation revealed that witnesses reported seeing the suspect backed out of his driveway, across the street and onto the lawn of the neighbours. The suspect then allegedly pulled away jumping curbs and going across lawns. The vehicle came to a stop when it hit stone steps. The complainants approached the driver, shut the vehicle off and removed the keys. The suspect re-attended his residence and police were called.

When police attended the residence, the suspect became uncooperative and attempted to resist arrest.

Charged with the following is Andrew GAZDIK (67) of Elliot Lake.

Impaired Driving
Failure to Provide a Breath Sample
Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest
Driving While Under Suspension.

GAZDIK is scheduled to appear in court on December 16th, 2005.

Suspicious Person Charged

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) At approximately 9:20 p.m. the East Algoma OPP received a call to attend the area of Willoughby Rd in regards to a suspicious person.

Investigation revealed that the suspect had entered a locked apartment and was intoxicated breaching his conditions.

Charged with the following is Brent Franklin SCHLOENDORF (38) of Elliot Lake.

Breach of Probation X3
Break and Enter
Fail to Comply with Recognizance

SCHLOENDORF was remanded into custody awaiting a Bail Hearing.


Pedestrian Shot With Pellet Gun

Heyden, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating a shooting over the weekend where a pedestrian was shot in the shoulder with a pellet gun.

On Sunday 30 Oct 2005 at about 4:00 p.m. the female victim was running in the 100 block of Hwy 556 in Heyden. She felt a pellet hit her shoulder and then ricochet off her jaw. The victim turned around just in time to see a young male, who she believed to be the shooter, in a window of a nearby house. The victim approached the house and was told to leave by an adult person.

A short time later the victim saw the same young male leave the house. She confronted the young person and a scuffle ensued. Police were called to the scene and a container of pellets has been seized. The victim did not require any immediate medical attention. No charges or arrests has been made and the investigation is still ongoing.


Ambulance Call Ends In Arrest and Charges

Batchawana First Nation, Ont., Officers with the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment ended up arresting a man over the weekend after being called to the Batchawana First Nation to assist the ambulance.

On Sunday 30 October 2005 at about 1:00 a.m. officers arrived at an apartment complex on Frontenac Street on the Batchawana First Nation after ambulance personnel were called to the same address. Ambulance personnel were advised that that a man in one of the apartments was cut badly and fled the scene when the ambulance arrived.

Officers with Garden River detachment of the Anishinabek Police Service also arrived to assist in searching the area for the man. He was eventually located, obviously under the influence of alcohol, on a nearby street but didn’t appear to be in need of an ambulance. A police check indicated that the man has several court orders not to possess or consume alcohol. He did have on very small cut on lower body area but did not need any professional medical treatment.

Twenty one year old Steven WABOOSE of the Batchawana First Nation was arrested for Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Mischief Reported To Local Business

(Thessalon, Ontario) On October 30, 2005 the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP received a complaint regarding mischief to a business located on Main Street, Thessalon, Ontario.

Over the last week, on two separate occasions, someone has spray painted Graffiti on the back wall of the store. The suspects are using orange and black spray paint.

Lawn Mower Stolen

(Thessalon, Ontario) On October 20, 2005 the East Algoma OPP were contacted regarding a theft of a lawn mower. The theft occurred on October 29, 2005 between the hours of 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

The theft occurred from a shed located on Government Road, Thessalon, Ontario. The lawn mower is described as Briggs Red Lawnmower, approximately 5 years old.
