Goulais River, Ont., A twenty year old St Joseph’s Island man will appear in Sault Ste Marie court after damaging a Goulais River Church parking lot.

On the morning of Sunday 20 Nov 2005 officers were called to a church parking lot on Old Hwy 17 in Goulais River. Officers found that the aggressive driving of the pick up truck had damaged the gravel parking lot. However, the driver got the truck stuck in the lot and the pick up was still at the scene. A short time later the officers located the driver of the truck at a home in the area of the church.

As a result of the investigation, twenty year old Naithen LACASSE of Richard’s Landing, St. Joseph’s Island, has been charged with one count of mischief under $5000.00. He will appear in court on Dec 19 2005. The church will have to hire a grader to repair the damage to the lot.

2 Twelve Hour Suspensions

Sault Ste Marie, Ont., R.I.D.E. checks over the weekend resulted in two 12 hour suspensions for area drivers.

Officers with the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment conducted R.I.D.E. spot checks at various locations in the detachment area. As a result of these checks two drivers had their drivers licence suspended for 12 hours.
