(St. Joseph Island, Ontario) On Friday November 11, 2005 the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP were advised of a break and enter on St. Joseph Island.

The break and enter occurred to a shed located on Humbug Point Road, St. Joseph Island, Ontario. The shed door was pried open and gasoline was stolen.

Barn Fire

(Highway 17, Johnson Township) On Sunday November 13, 2005 at approximately 7:15 am the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP were contacted regarding a barn burning on Highway 17, Johnson Township.

The barn was completely destroyed by the fire. The contents of the barn are estimated at $30,000. The structure damage is estimated at $200,000.

No foul play is suspected. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

High Winds Keep Police, Fire, MTO, and Hydro Busy

Sault Ste Marie, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP were kept busy all of yesterday as high winds blew trees and hydro lines down all through the detachment area.

Sault OPP were called to eighteen separate occurrences where trees and/or Hydro lines were blocking roadways throughout the detachment area. Some of these locations had small fires reported as live wires and trees combined to create dangerous conditions for repair crews.

Another Weekend of Joint Patrols Produces More Charges

This was the third time this fall that the two enforcement agencies conducted these patrols and proved the need for a continued presence of enforcement personnel in the hunting areas. As a result of these patrols the officers produced the following results:

One suspended driver
One Driving with no licence
Two firearms seized due to no permits to possess them
One fail to produce licence to a Conservation Officer
Three uncased firearms at night charges
Two Liquor Licence Act Charges
Two trespass to hunt charges
One hunt small game with no licence charge

The two agencies will continue to conduct the joint patrols throughout the Algoma area.
