Weekend Crash Sends 3 To Hospital

Mamainse Harbour, Ont., An early morning crash on Saturday morning on Hwy 17 at Mamainse Harbour sent three occupants of a mini van to hospital.

On Saturday 07 May 2005 at about 6:30 a.m. a mini van was traveling north on Hwy 17 near Mamainse Harbour. The driver of the vehicle fell asleep at the wheel. The van crossed the centerline into the southbound lane and onto the southbound shoulder. The van then crossed the highway again into the northbound lanes and into the north ditch. The vehicle rolled over and landed on its roof.

All three occupants of the van were taken to Sault and Area Hospital by ambulance. All three were treated for major but not life threatening injuries.

The driver of the van, thirty nine year old Kevin CANTTANI of Thunder Bay has been charged with Careless Driving.


Moose Truck Collision

Batchawana Bay, Ont., A truck had to be towed from the scene after a moose ran into the path of the truck on Saturday morning .

On Saturday 07 May 2005 at about 7:00 a.m. a tractor trailer was northbound on Hwy 17 in the Batchawana Bay area.
