A motorcycle collision last evening has sent two area men to Sault and Area Hospital and several charges against the driver of the bike

At about 6:30 p.m. last night a motorcycle was traveling east on Hwy 552 in Goulais River. The driver lost control of the bike and the bike skidded across the roadway and into the opposite ditch.

The passenger, fifty-year-old Dean RALPH, of Sault Ste Marie was taken to Sault and Area Hospital by ambulance with major injuries. The driver of the bike, twenty two year old Steven LACOURSIERE of Heyden was also treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

As a result of this investigation 22-year-old Steven LACOURRSIERE of Heyden faces a list of charges. He will appear in Sault Ste Marie court in July to answer to the follow charges. Impaired Driving Causing Injuries, Driving While Under Suspension, Driving a Motor Vehicle with No Insurance, Driving a Motor Vehicle with No Licence Plates, and Driving a Motor Vehicle with no Permit.


MOOSE COLLISION SENDS ONE MAN TO HOSPITAL

Echo Bay, Ont.,

A collision with a moose on Hwy 17 in the Echo Bay area on Friday night sent an Echo Bay man to hospital with minor injuries.

At about 10:30 p.m. on Friday the man was traveling east on Hwy 17 just east of Echo Bay. The man struck a moose that was crossing the highway and as a result of the collision the driver suffered minor injuries.

Forty five year old Thomas Mitchell of Echo Bay was taken to Sault and Area Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. The vehicle he was driving had to be towed from the scene.


WATCH FOR THE MOOSE ON THE “MILE HILL”

Heyden, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP would like to warn motorists of a young bull moose that has been seen numerous times on the highway in the area of the Mile Hill in Heyden.

Police have received several reports of the moose either crossing the roadway or standing on the roadway on the Mile Hill about 25 kms north of Sault Ste Marie. Pay extra attention to this particular section of Hwy 17 at all times to avoid an unnecessary collision with one of Mother Nature’s creatures.
