BACK ROAD PATROL FINDS SUSPENDED DRIVER

Laird Twp, Ont.,

A Laird Twp man faces a charge of Driving Under Suspension after being seen driving his vehicle on the back roads of Laird Twp.

On Saturday morning at about 10:00 a.m. an officer from the Sault Ste Marie Detachment was on patrol of a side road in Laird Twp. The officer saw a vehicle that belonged to a person she knew had his drivers licence suspended. As she turned around to pull the car over, the driver sped up and quickly pulled into a nearby driveway and drove around the back of a house.

The officer pulled into the residence and the owner of the house came out to indicate the other vehicle was not welcome on the property. This officer’s suspicion was correct. The driver of the vehicle was under two separate suspensions not to be driving.

Fifty one year old James Spin of Laird Township now faces a charge of Driving Under Suspension Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. He will appear in Provincial Offences Court in June.
