CHARGES IN EARLY MORNING COLLISION

Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. has charged two Sault Ste. Marie men after the truck they were driving slammed into a pole in Goulais River.

On Saturday 7 June, at about 3:00 a.m., a pick-up truck struck a pole in the parking lot of the Goulais River Liquor Store. The police investigation has revealed that three males were in the truck at the time but none of the three were injured. All three fled the scene of the collision.

Nineteen-year-old Benjamin Jonah of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with failing to report a collision and driving with a G2 licence when blood alcohol is above zero. Twenty-three-year-old Jason Pheasant has been charged with consuming liquor other than at his residence.

The truck was extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.


VANDALISM TO SCHOOL GROUNDS
Goulais River, Ont.,

Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. is investigating extensive damage to the playground of a Goulais River School.

On Saturday afternoon, O.P.P. were called to the school after a resident of the area noticed the damage.

It appears that sometime late Friday evening or early Saturday morning someone drove a vehicle all over the playground of Mountain View School in Goulais River. The vandals drove all over the schools grounds and caused damage by spinning the vehicle tires and ripping up the grass area.

This investigation is continuing. If anyone in the area of Mountain View School heard or saw anything or anyone who caused this damage is encouraged to call the Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. or Crime stoppers.


BREAK AND ENTER

A break and enter into a home in the 8000 block of Hwy 17 in Goulais River is being investigated by Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P.

On Saturday night at about 9:00 p.m. a neighbour noticed that the front door of the home had been forced open. The only thing noticed missing is a television. Police believe that the break and enter occurred sometime between late Friday night and Saturday afternoon.


STOLEN TOOLS
Heyden, Ont.,

A Heyden man came out of his house on Birchgrove Road Saturday morning to do some work around the house when he realized that someone had stolen his tools. The homeowner had left his homemade air tank outside overnight only to discover that thieves had taken the tank.

The tank is made from an old beer keg and parts of a shopping cart. If anyone sees the tank they are asked to call the police.

The Northeast Region Traffic and Marine Unit issued one 12-hour drivers licence suspension as a result of a spot check in the Searchmont area.

The Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. has been receiving an increasing number of complaints about people drinking and driving in and around the Searchmont area.
