(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The OPP is currently investigating the theft of a wallet at a local high school. The complainant reports that he left his jacket unattended in the cafeteria and upon his return to retrieve his coat the wallet was missing.

The tan leather billfold wallet contained various items of identification such as Social Insurance Card, Ontario Drivers Licence, Student Identification Card, Birth Certificate, and Health Card. Also in the wallet a Bank Card, Benefit Card, Air Miles Card and money.

Missing Snow Board

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP is requesting the assistance of the public is finding a lost snowboard. Investigation revealed that on January 14, 2006 at approximately 9:30 a.m. the complainant had the snowboard in the back of the truck while driving to the ski hill. Somewhere between the Royal Bank and Mount Dufour Ski Hill the snowboard fell out of the truck.

The board is described as red in color with 5150 written underneath the board. In the middle of the board there is a picture of a big grey monster and a see through Maple Leaf Stomp Pad.

Police Investigating Mischief at Local Beach

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On January 13th, 2006 police were called to attend the Spruce Avenue Beach in regards to damage to some of the buildings, which are closed during the winter months.

On scene the officers discovered that unknown person(s) broke into the lifeguard shack, the washrooms, the mechanical room and were unsuccessful in their efforts to open the canteen main rear doors. Damage is estimated at approximately $300.00.

WINDOWS SMASHING SPREE

Heyden, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to a parking area in Heyden on Sunday morning after four vehicles had their windows smashed out.

Sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning criminals smashed out seven windows on four vehicles that were parked just off Hwy 556 in Heyden. The thieves then went through every vehicle and stole anything in the vehicle that was of value.

Collectively the owners of the vehicles estimate that property stolen from them is worth about $3000.00.

Police would like to remind everyone that January is Crime Stoppers month. A call to Crime Stoppers could get you a cash reward and help these four vehicle owners get their property back.

GOULAIS RIVER BREAK AND ENTER

Goulais River, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating a break and enter on Whispering Pines Road in Goulais River.

Sometime in the past week the door to the seasonal home was forced open. The owner of the home advised police that electronic equipment was reported stolen from the house.
