TRANSPORT DEMOLISHED IN SUNDAY AFTERNOON COLLISION

Laird Twp, Ont.,

A Manitoba truck driver was lucky to escape injuries after his rig went into the ditch on Sunday afternoon

At about 4:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon the transport, pulling an unloaded livestock trailer, was headed east on Hwy 17 near Rydall Mill Road in Laird Twp. The driver advised police that a gust of wind blew his unloaded trailer causing him to start to fishtail. The driver was unable to maintain control of his truck and the rig jackknifed and went into the ditch.

The cab of the truck was demolished in the collision but the driver escaped injury. Traffic in the area was reduced to one lane for eastbound traffic while the truck was removed from the ditch. No charges were laid in this investigation.
