Helpful Police Tip #43 - Leave Your Dope At Home When Coming To The Police Station

A Sault Ste Marie man has complicated his legal issues by reporting to the police station with drugs on him.

Late Friday afternoon the 35 year old man was reporting to the Sault OPP detachment as part of his bail conditions. One of the sureties that posted his bail withdrew their support and as a result the man was arrested. While being searched, police found a 5 gram vial of Cannabis Resin (hash oil) on him. Besides being illegal to possess in the first place, one of his bail conditions was not to possess any illegal drugs.

Stolen Searchmont Vehicle Located

A vehicle stolen from Searchmont was located in Searchmont prior to the owner reporting the crime to police.

On Sunday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. an officer with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment was patrolling the Searchmont area and checked a 1991 Plymouth parked on Whitman Dam Road in Searchmont. A few minutes later the officer was called to a Searchmont business to answer a report of a stolen vehicle.

It turns out the victims car was the same one that the officer checked just prior to the call. The victim of the theft was advised that leaving the keys in the ignition and the car unlocked was not the best crime prevention activity that a property owner could practice.

Yet Another Reason Why Snow Machine Trails Are Patrolled

Officers with the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit once again offer proof why there is a continuous need for the police to patrol the snow machine trails.

OPP were patrolling the snow machine trails over the weekend. An officer was running radar on a trail and clocked one operator at 110 km/h. The posted speed limit on an OFSC trail in Ontario is 50 km/h.

The 23 year old Luke Officer of Goulais River was charged with speeding under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
