SNOW MACHINE COLLISION SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL

Laird Twp, Ont.,

A snow machine collision in Laird Twp, east of Echo Bay, on Saturday night sent a thirteen year old Echo Bay girl to Sault and Area Hospital.

On Saturday night at about 9:00 p.m. a snow machine was being operated in a field by two thirteen year old girls. As they drove the machine off the field and onto the roadway, the driver lost control of the machine. The machine hit two cars parked on Lapish Road. The passenger was thrown from the snow machine into the parked vehicles.

Thirteen-year-old Rebecca Scott of Echo Bay was sent to Sault and Area Hospital by ambulance with major, non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation has indicated a problem with the braking system on the snow machine. No charges were laid in this investigation.


SPOUSAL ASSAULT RESULTS IN POLICE CUSTODY FOR ONE MAN

Laird Twp, Ont.,

A twenty four year old Laird Twp man is in police holding cells after he assaulted his wife last night.

At about 8:30 last night officers responded to a Government Road home in Laird Township. Upon arrival police found her husband had assaulted a women living at the house.

The woman arrived home after work and shortly there after a physical confrontation took place with her husband. Police were called and the man fled the home prior to police arrival. He was located at a nearby home and taken into custody for assault.

Further investigation has indicated that the man is on Probation for a previous assault on the same woman. The twenty four year old man will appear in Sault Ste Marie bail court today to answer charges of Assault The woman did not require medical treatment for her injuries.
