Batchewana First Nation - Police caught three young offenders on Saturday night after another incident of throwing items at passing vehicles

At about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, several trucks travelling on Trunk Road in the area of the East Husky Station reported that youths were throwing large snowballs at the trucks.

One driver reported that one of the large snowballs struck his windshield.

Members of the Batchewana First Nation Police and a member of the public caught the three boys that are responsible for this dangerous action.

The Batchewana First Nation Police officer took the three youths ages 13,15 and 16 into custody.

Since the incident happened in the area policed by the Sault Ste Marie City police the names and addresses of the three were given to the city police for follow up action.

The three were provided with "helpful and informative advice" by the officer involved.

The boys all had addresses from the City of Sault Ste Marie.


Wawa, Ontario) - On Saturday December 4 2004, a Wawa OPP officer stopped a car on highway 17, 30 kilometers south of Wawa for speeding.

The vehicle was heading back to Quebec from British Columbia.

After further investigation, the officer found a quantity of marijuana in the car.

Charged with possession of a controlled substance were 20-year-old Armando Lacasse and a 17-year-old youth, both of Gatineau Quebec.

(Desbarats, Ontario) - On Thursday December 2, 2004 the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were contacted regarding a fire that occurred at Central Algoma Secondary School.

A roll of toilet paper had been started on fire in the men's washroom on the main floor at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The Johnson Township Fire Department attended the scene.

The fire was extinguished and there was minor damage.

This fire is under investigation by the East Algoma OPP.

(Bruce Mines, Ontario) - On Sunday December 4, 2004, the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were contacted regarding a mischief occurring to a business and the business owners motor vehicle.

Suspects wrote obscene words in marker on the outside wall of The Pizza Lady, located in Bruce Mines and the owners van.
