Damage To Potted Plants In Downtown Area

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) August 21, 2005 at approximately 5:57 a.m. a female party attended the Elliot Lake Detachment of the East Algoma OPP to speak with an officer.

The party was viewed to show signs of impairment. Officer asked the suspect to leave the detachment on three separate occasions but the party refuse to leave.

Investigation revealed that the suspect had damaged 14 (fourteen) potted plants hanging from 7 (seven) lampposts along the sidewalk area from 112 Ontario to 166 Ontario Avenue of the City of Elliot Lake. Flowerpots are valued at $50.00 each.

Charged with Mischief Under $5,000.00 is Sharon JONES (44) of Elliot Lake. JONES is scheduled to appear in court October 4th, 2005.

Attempted Theft

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP is currently investigating the attempted theft of a canoe. Investigation revealed that on August 21, 2005 at approximately 2:30 a.m. unknown person(s) attended the back yard of a residence on McDonald Court and attempted to steal a new canoe.

The canoe was chained and locked, stopping the culprit(s) to steal the canoe.
