SNOW MACHINE UNDER WATER
Heyden, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to Lower Island Lake in Heyden after a snow machine went into open water on Saturday afternoon

At about 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, officers responded to a report of a snow machine that was submerged in about 15 feet of water in Lower Island Lake. The investigation indicated that two 14-year-old boys were operating the snow machine. They originally advised officers that they were driving on the lake when the ice broke and the snow machine went through the ice. Further investigation revealed that the two boys had spent some time purposely driving the snow machine across open water and were not wearing any helmets.

The snow machine was eventually removed and the two fourteen year olds will be facing several charges under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
