WANDERING DOGS SURROUND FAMILY OF FOUR
Heyden, Ont.,

A family walk in the Heyden Lake area turned into a nightmare for one Sault Ste. Marie family.

The couple and two children were in the Heyden Lake area on Saturday afternoon at about 4:00 p.m. The family was walking on Heyden Lake Road when a group of three German Sheppard dogs approached the four and were growling and showing their teeth.

The family feared for their safety and started to retreat. The three dogs surrounded the two adults in the group and were nipping at them, growling and baring their teeth.

The owner of the dogs attempted to call the dogs off. He eventually opened the door to his vehicle and the three dogs were contained inside.

O.P.P. will be laying charges against the owner of the animals.

WAS THAT A DEER OR A "WILD" COW???
Laird Twp, Ont.,

The Sault Ste. Marie detachment of the O.P.P. is asking for the public's assistance while they are traveling throughout the Laird Twp and Echo Bay area.

We are trying to help the owner of a dairy cow and a calf find the missing pair. Sometime in mid March the cow and the calf crossed the Bar River onto another person's property.

That day the ice left the river and the cow and the calf could not get back. The owner of the property indicated that the two bovine were just fine on the property and that the owner could leave them there until they could transport the cow and calf back by truck.

It now seems that the two cows have taken a keen interest in travelling and no one is able to locate the pair.

Over the past little while the two have been seen in various fields and wandering around the snow machine trail in that area.

Lately however no one has seen any "hide nor hair" of the cow and calf. The estimated value (on the hoof) of the two animals is over $2,000.00.

If you see two cows in that area and you know they are not yours or the two appear to be on their "travel's" please call the O.P.P. and hopefully they can be re-united with their owner.
