Sault man charged with trafficking

BATCHEWANA FIRST NATIONS TERRITORY - On Aug. 26, 2018 at approximately 11:15 p.m., members from the Batchewana Police Service and the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an intoxicated male on Batchewana First Nations Territory.

As a result of further investigation, Mathew L'Hereux, 22 years of age of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was charged with the following;

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance - Opioid (other than heroin) contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
  • Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to section 355(b) CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 24, 2018 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
