Theft over $5000

A 19 year old Sault Ste. Marie man will think twice before agreeing to give acquaintances a ride in the future.

Yesterday afternoon a Sault Ste. Marie resident agreed to give a 16 year old male a ride to his residence at Beaumont Trailer Park. A 14 year old Sault Ste. Marie resident accompanied them. After arriving at the trailer park the 19 year old had his car keys forcibly removed from him by his ‘friends’ and some others. The car was driven back to Sault Ste. Marie without its owner. The 19 year old managed to secure a ride back to Sault Ste. Marie from a relative and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called.

At approximately 5:45 P.M. the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a report of an accident on Beverly Street where several youths had fled the scene. When police arrived they located a 16 year old male and a 14 year old male. These two were arrested and turned over to Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P.

The two young males have been charged with Theft Over $5,000 and are scheduled to appear in Bail Court today in Sault Ste. Marie. The investigation is continuing.
