RIDE TO TOWN COSTS $70.00
a 51-year-old Goulais Mission resident had a few too many beer last night and decided to take a nap on the shoulder of Highway 17 on the Blueberry Flats. Passing motorists were concerned that he might have been hit by a car.

Goulais First Response and O.P.P. were called and found the man trying to walk to town. He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was transported to town and turned over to a family member. The fine for the offence is $70.00.

CANOEISTS REPORTED OVERDUE
A local man and his son-in-law took the family dog and headed out for a ride down the Goulais River. When they did not arrive at the assigned spot, family members called police.

The O.P.P. was in the process of organizing a search when the two called in on a 2-way radio. They had underestimated the length of the trip by several hours. Both men were tired but in good shape otherwise. Both indicated they would not be canoeing again for quite a while.
