MINOR INJURIES IN KNIFE ATTACK

Sault Ste Marie OPP has one person in custody after a second person was attacked with a knife last night.

Last night at about 11:30 p.m. ambulance and police were called to a home on August Street on the Batchewana First Nation. The investigation is indicating that a verbal argument between two teenage females had escalated. The victim was struck several times in the throat, back and arms with a knife. A third person in the home intervened in the fight and managed to separate the victim from the attacker.

Although the ambulance attended the scene, the victim refused medical treatment. The knife wounds have been described as superficial.

As a result of the investigation one 17 year old female from the Batchewana First Nation is in police custody. She will appear in bail court this morning. She is charged with one count of Assault With a Weapon.
